Membership is open to any veterinary professional or researcher with an interest in clinical veterinary research especially those who are currently, or were, a member of a clinical veterinary ethics committee, or who have a strong interest in ethics review..

AVEC welcome applications for membership as outlined above.
The organisation encourage those in veterinary practice to join. Carrying out clinical veterinary research can make a significant contribution to evidence based veterinary medicine. Practising vets and vet nurses are unique in having important practical knowledge and experience in treating a range of animals in different environments and under varying circumstances. (This contrasts with the rather restricted and limited experimental conditions for product registration that are formally required for any product claiming a veterinary medical benefit.)
